    Russian philosphy: Not permanent painting, to be seen from far, so, why spending time and money for that.

    But the whitewall tyres on the vans, surely they speak of a certain mid century flamboyance?

      Indeed, four years later they put the first man into space!
      These tyres are suposed to stay long on vans and to be seen from close.
      Russian are very pratical people in technics and science.

        Certainly practical, but perfect for that era- great for Yuri to take Svetlana to the local hop on a Saturday night. American Graffiti, Russian style.
